Focus Pakistan Conference on Vision Impairment & Blindness
As October is celebrated as the “World Blindness Awareness Month”, Determined Pakistan in collaboration with Boltay Huroof organizd First Annual “Focus Pakistan” Conference on Vision Impairment & Blindness on 30th October 2023 at ICAP Auditorium Karachi.
According to a research by the “International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB)”, in 2020 in Pakistan, there were an estimated 26 million people with vision loss, of these, 1.8 million people were blind. This number of vision loss and blind people is growing fast. Vision impairment poses an enormous global financial burden, with the annual global cost of productivity estimated to be US$ 411 billion (IAPB - 2020)
Therefore, this important Conference aimed at providing a platform to experts for knowledge sharing on the magnitude, causes, efforts and the measures that need to be taken to prevent vision impairment and blindness in Pakistan.
